“The lady lined us up, prayed for us and we all fell on the ground backwards, even Minister!” That’s the English translation of how five very excited Jamaican young people described (in Jamaican Patois) the National Intercessory Prayer Network of Jamaica’s conference held in Kingston (sometime around 2003.) So, with a mixture of fear, wonder and expectation, Kathryn and her late husband, Ken, packed up their three small children and made the 2 & 1/2hour drive from rural Manchester back into Kingston the following night for the closing session.
She soon learned that the powerful woman of God who had ministered to her husband and the church’s young people was Esther Ilnisky. Esther's warmth and sincerity was welcoming. Her love for Kathryn’s family, endearing. Her prophetic insight, a call-to-action. She left that first meeting with a longing...“I want to be just like her!”
After this conference, Kathryn poured over the booklet, “What About the Children?” Esther’s vision of children moving in the gifts of the Holy Spirit opened her eyes and planted faith to see not only her own children moving in the gifts of the Spirit but for every child with whom she would have contact.
With a desire to understand exactly what CGPM - Children’s Global Prayer Movement (now known as World Shapers) - was all about, Kathryn and her sons Stephen, and James traveled to Florida for a Saturday, InterGenerational Prayer Meeting. There she saw children not just praying but LEADING in prayer. She saw children praying with authority for the sick. She saw them weeping for current world crises and worshiping with great freedom. It was here that she truly “caught the vision.”
Not long after this trip, Esther asked Kathryn to be the CGPM representative for Jamaica and the Caribbean. A resounding, “YES!” was her response.
With initial help from Reconciliation MInistries / Rev. George Miller and the continuing support of the National Intercessory Prayer Network of Jamaica / Revs. Devon and Maria Harbajan, Kathryn has been teaching and leading children in prayer in Jamaica since 2003.
In 2013 she joined forces full-time with the National Intercessory Prayer Network of Jamaica / Prayer Centre of the Caribbean as their Children in Prayer Coordinator where she has continued to host prayer meetings, prayer conferences and teacher trainings. Prayer Clubs in four schools have also been formed and continually assisted.
Currently Kathryn is the World Shapers Ambassador for Jamaica and the Caribbean and is a great support to WS President, Mary Tome, assisting in many areas.
Kathryn shares: "Praying children are a part of God’s plan for this day and season. Their prayers are key to the salvation and deliverance of their friends and families and their nations. It is an honor to be chosen by God to help shepherd this end-time army of World Shapers."
